Every day your feet take a heavy pounding as you move through your daily activities. Pain and inflammation felt underneath the heel could indicate the Plantar Fasciitis condition, which is commonly caused by excessive strain on the plantar fascia of the foot.
Generally we see this in patients whose occupation requires standing, particularly on hard surfaces, for long periods of time, overweight or obese people and pregnant women. Pre-teen children and athletes especially runners and jumpers can also suffer with plantar fasciitis condition. Wearing shoes with little or no arch support can be an aggravating factor.
The myotherapy approach is firstly to assess any muscle imbalances that could be present in the foot and the leg. Soft tissue massage can help alleviate the condition along with the recommendation of strengthening and stretching exercises.
It is recommended not to just ignore the pain under the heel and to make an appointment with our Myotherapist to discuss the condition. Book online or call 5244 5438.
